People across the District have asked me, “How did you do that in Shaw?” (Read more about my Shaw accomplishments here). Over 20 years as an ANC Commissioner, I have been an an agent of change, helping to achieve things that others only talked about attempting. As ANC 2G02 Commissioner, I am using my proven leadership and successes in protecting and expanding affordable housing, serving seniors, supporting small businesses, improving libraries, helping the arts flourish, and promoting equitable development and historic preservation to help Shaw become a healthier, cleaner, safer and more prosperous neighborhood. 

I’ve led the effort to transform Shaw from a neighborhood primarily known for drugs, prostitution and gang violence to a world-renown dining and entertainment destination filled with public art and restored African American landmarks, adding thousands of new residents while maintaining the neighborhood’s economic and ethnic diversity. I want to help steer Shaw through new development, businesses, and civic improvements, without displacement. I’ve helped make it happen in Shaw in the past, and I can make positive change happen as ANC 2G02 Commissioner. 

My experience as an ANC Commissioner and economic revitalization professional are invaluable on ANC 2G as our neighborhood and its economy recover from the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. My sleeves are rolled up and am making a more equitable, post-COVID-19 Shaw a reality.
